I'm using a WIN 7 PC (with full admin privileges) to try to connect to a DP83825EVM eval board so I can check and/or change register settings for the on board DP83825I chip using USB2MDIO GUI. I followed everything according to the user guide and downloaded both the driver and GUI from the link provided in that guide. Everything appeared to install without a problem but the driver will not load when I connect the USB. The PC sees me plug up the board via USB and it shows up in device manager but with a little warning symbol and says Windows unable to find compatible driver for the device. I tried rebooting the PC and reinstalling the driver from scratch, this time to a different location on PC's hard drive, still nothing. I tried multiple DP83825EVM boards (I have 4 of them), all do the same thing. All of this seems like it should be straight forward so I am stumped. Any ideas?

Hi Phil,

My apologies for the redirection. Ethernet will be handling this thread, and I am reaching out to the GUI creator for more input. In the meanwhile, have you tried upgrading or moving the system to a Windows 10 system?

Unfortunately I don't have a WIN10 machine to work with (that I can gain admin rights for). Hopefully someone here will have some other ideas.

Hi Phil,

I looks like the GUI was developed around 2015, which is around when Windows 10 started to roll around (if you recall, before that was Windows 8). As such, I don't believe the GUI supports Windows 7 as when it was developed, the OS was either 8 or 10 at the time so it was developed based on that.

OK, I was finally able to get access to a Win 10 PC. That resolved the problem. Funny thing is that I didn't see it written anywhere what the driver compatibility is.
