Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB217A,
Can I get the Gerber files for the above EVM? I'd like to spin a version for EVAL with a somewhat different feature set.
Cheers...Doug

Hi Douglas,
The power range for the TUSB217A device is pretty flexible, but large, fast swings can still cause issues. We have seen issues when customers are using VBUS (5V) for power and then have a huge in-rush current that drops it quickly to 2.3V. Start-up time isn't a huge concern either, but you do want to make sure that the TUSB217A is on before the USB enumeration happens on the bus. Can you share a block diagram of the application? You can send it over direct message if you don't want to post it.

Hi JMMN,
Our application (USB repeater) will not have access to the VBUS and will therefore be required to pro0vide power for the -217A. Using the EVM it looks like the header allows use of "external" power. Im likely to use a good quality, low noise 5V switcher (AC to DC) to power the EVM to test. Any issues with this approach.
Ok, this likely won't impact your application, but as noted in Users Guide, there was an issue with how that external power was implemented on the TUSB217AEVM-BC since the resistor divider we used to drive the toggle input actually caused some backdriving on upstream VBUS. Since you don't need to implement a toggle for battery charging, it is likely a don't care, but I wanted to share the updated schematic if you are using the EVM design as a reference.
