DS110DF410: Interface forum

Part Number: DS110DF410

Dear Team,

Hope you are doing well!

About DS110DF410 signal loss due to TLR lost locked status, can it be solved by adjusting the CDR bandwidth through register 1C (phase detector charge pump)?

The description register 1C is shown below:

Thanks a lot for your support!

  • Hi Xenon,

Increasing CDR bandwidth would enable the CDR to track more jitter in the received signal.  This might help if the issue with TLR is related to jitter.  It would not hurt to try this.  With that said, the TLR limitation is typically a result of the VCO frequency changing over temperature for a set VCO control voltage.  This makes it more challenging to track the signal since the VCO frequency is changes over temperature at a set control voltage.

    Thanks,
    Drew

  • Dear Drew,

Thanks a lot for your reply!

As you mentioned upside, increasing the bandwidth will make it more challenging to track signal. If the bandwidth of CDR is increased, will the CDR track more frequency changes due to temperature change, which means that it is more difficult to track the signal?

    Many thanks!

  • Hi Xenon,

Increasing the bandwidth of the CDR will enable the CDR to better track the signal.  However, I'm not sure if this will have a significant impact on the TLR of this device since I believe the limiting factor is most likely the change in VCO frequency that occurs over temperature.

With that said, it would not hurt to try increasing CDR bandwidth to see if it increases the TLR of the retimer in your system.

    Thanks,

    Drew
