Hi Experts,

May I ask if can the XFI interface be connected on one end and the SFI interface on the other end of the re-timer?

Does the re-timer do any interface change?

    Hi Gerald,

    The retimer does support having an XFI interface on one end and a SFI interface on the other.

    The difference between XFI and SFI comes down to electrical specifications.  The retimer handles this difference since it retimes and re-transmits the data it receives through a non-linear signal chain.  This allows for transmit settings to be independent of the received electrical signal.
