DS90C189-Q1: Input 3.3V signal stage

Part Number: DS90C189-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TFP401A-Q1, DS90C387, , SN65LVDS93A-Q1

Hello,

In our design, we re planning to use TFP401A-Q1 based DVI-D to LVDS converter (Dual channel Full HD). As the Serializer chip output levels are 3.3V, we could not directly interface with DS90C189-Q1 chip inputs. We did not use DS90C387 due to temperature range. Can we use DS90C189-Q1 with resistor divider on the input (2.2K), will it work? do you see any timing issue with RC effect at the input?

thank you,

  • Hi,

I would not suggest adding a resistor divider to the output of this device. Although I am slightly confused. According to the datasheet for the TFP401A-Q1, this device also has 3.3V IO. Maybe I am misunderstanding your issue?

    Regards,

    Ben

  • Hi Ben,

    thank you for the response.

Let me clarify, TFP401A-Q1 device output levels are 3.3V IO and DS90C189-Q1 chip inputs are 1.8V lO levels, and they are not voltage level compatible.

So I asked whether we can use resistor divider at the TFP401A-Q1 device output to reduce the voltage level to 1.8V.

I identified alternate part SN65LVDS93A-Q1 for 3.3V voltage compatible.

One question, Do you have any device that supports (like DS90C387) convert 48Bit RGB to LVDS dual channel  and support minimum -40degC  operating temperature condition?

    thank you,

    Johnson John

  • Hello,

Unfortunately all of our 48 bit RGB to LVDS transmitters/serializers are in the same -10 to 70 degC temperature range. We do have several 24 bit options, like the SN65LVDS93A-Q1 you have identified.

    Regards,

    Ben
