TCA9509: VIL vs VILC

Hello team,

I'd like to understand correctly how we should understand a difference between VIL(in 7.3 Recommended Operating Conditions) and VILC(in 7.5 Electrical Characteristics).

Which should we obey for the input voltage on the A side in case of using TCA9509?

  • Use VILC; see section 10.2.2.2. The specified VIL value is useless for designing the circuit.

  • Hi Sawamoto,

    VILC is the voltage at which we say the input voltage on the A-side must be to drive a logic LOW from A to B when in contention (when B is the driving the line). 

    The external driver on the A-side must drive the line below VILC even where there isn't contention to ensure A-side can maintain a logic LOW from A to B. 

    Use VILC in design for the input voltage requirement on the A-side. VIL is a general electrical characteristic based off the I2C standard.
