SN65LBC180A: Storage temperature

Part Number: SN65LBC180A

Hi Experts,

The latest data in the datasheet for SN65LBC180AD (SLLS378E) does not contain any information on the storage temperature limits. Rev C of the same data sheet states that the storage temperature ranges from -65 degC to 150 degC, but according to the revision history the storage temperature range was removed in rev D. Can you elaborate on how this should be interpreted? Is it no longer safe to store the component in, e.g., -50 degC?

I am asking because our customers do thermal cycling on their products and would like to cycle them down to -50 degC in a non-powered state.

Best regards,
Gerald

  • Hi Gerald,

Our current qualification report has this device TC at -65C to 150C for 500 cycles (https://www.ti.com/qualificationsummary/qualsumm/home?actionId=2800) - so I don't think the storage temperature for the device has actually changed as when I looked up the PCN history - it also doesn't seem like there was a design change in 2009 (when Rev D came out). The standard fluctuates a lot in what we actually publish for storage temperature - generally the TC will match up with storage temperature - but the caveat is its not in the datasheet so we officially don't guarantee it - but our quality report would suggest this is the same level as it was previously.
