Hi,

I need your assistance on finding the right Ti ethernet PHY for our next project.

Since the implementation is in Avionics ie. it is on plane. The copper cable wight is significant measure and I thought of the single pair as solution.

 

Here are the parameters needed :

Single pair Ethernet PHY for copper cable connection.

Speed 100M

Guarantied Distance 90m (100 and above is ok)

The temperature rating should be 125C

Mac interface RMII or SMII

I have looked on several PHYs but was not sure about the cable length the PHY guarantee to work. The following PHYs:

  1. DP83TC811S-Q1 100BASE-T1 – IEEE 802.3bw Compliant from what I understand the distance here is 15m
  2. DP83TD510E which is 802.3cg 10Base-T1L 10M BPS but can it operate at 100M BPS @90 meters ?
  3. DP83TG720R-Q1 which is for 1G BPS IEEE802.3bp 1000BASE-T1 compliant. But will be the distance when operated in 100M bps ?

 

Where can I find the test over distance done foe the specific PHY? I did not see any mentioning of distance in the data sheet .

 

I will appreciate if you can share the PHY road map if there is no current PHY that support my requirements and will be in near future. (can be done by TI Israel if it is classified)

    Hi Avner,

    Our only SPE device that supports 100M is the DP83TC81xR series. Maximum cable length is dependent on many factors such as cable type/class, connector type, etc. We have had customers that claim to be able to transfer up to a distance 40m with the DP83TC81xR but unfortunately we have no validation data with 100m cable.

    Hi Melissa,

    I just found one by Analog devices part number ADIN1200CCP32Z range of 180 meters.
    Does Ti have or intending to have similar device ?

    Hi Avner,

    The ADIN1200CCP32Z is a single port Ethernet PHY transceiver, it does not support single pair ethernet (SPE). Single port refers to the fact that the PHY supports a single Ethernet port.

    If you are looking for a single port Ethernet PHY transceiver that supports RMII, we have the DP83826 and the DP83825 which are both 10/100 PHYs that support >150 m cable reach.

    You are right, this is not single pair but single port PHY. I look for single pair PHY for ~100 meters.
