TCA9509: Vcca = Vccb = 3.3V possible use case?

Hello Team,

as the data sheet shows all use cases with level translation I wonder if Vcca = Vccb = 3.3V is also a working use case?

Please confirm that VCCA ≤ (VCCB – 1 V) is only valid for level translation applications and that Vcca = Vccb is also allowed.

Or am I wrong?

The datasheet does not allow a difference of less than 1 V. The only valid application is level translation.

What is the actual problem you're trying to solve?

Hi, my customer wants to use it as a switch to enable/disable additional I2C ICs to the bus.

Will https://www.ti.com/product/TCA9517A be the right part for this? If not, can you recommend a device which can do this, please?

The TCA9xxx devices are level shifters and buffers.

If you need buffering, I would recommend tha TCA9800/1/2/3.

If you do not need buffering, you can switch the signal lines with any general-purpose analog switch, e.g., SN74LVC2G66.
