TCA9517: Level shifting I2C bus repeater

Part Number: TCA9517

Hi Team,

I'm having doubt in the TI part : TCA9517 Level-Shifting I 2C Bus Repeater

In this, How to measure the VIH and VIL of this IC and what is the input and output circuit to be connected while checking this, I need to verify the VIH and VIL with the datasheet.

how to connect the EN pin and what pin to be input and where to verify the out.

Kindly refer this datasheet link: TCA9517 Level-Shifting I2C Bus Repeater datasheet (Rev. D)

  • Hi Saikumar,

To see if controller/ target devices are compatible with the VIH/VIL requirements of the TCA9517, please check with the controller/target device to see if their logic thresholds (VOH/VOL) align. The VIL/ VIH thresholds of the TCA9517 follows the I2C standard (an input signal is considered logic high for any input signal higher then 70% of VCC and lower then 30% of VCC for logic low). Note that there is a different VIL requirement (also referred to as VILC) on B-side due to the static voltage offset that this device has:

The device driving signals back from B->A side must be able to drive below VILC requirement to be considered an input low back into the device.

The EN pin is internally biased high through a pullup to VCCB. If disabled outputs are desired, pull this node low. Both ch. SCL/ SDA are auto-bidirectional as the design is the same for both channels.

    Regards,

    Jack
