TUSB8041: How to control individually downstream ports

I am trying to build a controllable USB HUB using two TUSB8041 ic's.
It is possible to control individually each downstream ports using TUSB8041? If yes, how can i do it? If not, should I use a switch and a microcontroller and switch on/off each port manually using the microcontroller?

Hi,

Yes, i want to be able to switch on and off each downstream port remotely.
I saw that i can put GANGED/SMBA2/HS_UP to 0, FULLPWRMGMTz/SMBA1/SS_UP to 0 and then i can control the power of each downstream port using PWRCTL[2:1]/BATEN[2:1].
Is this correct?

PWRCTL is output pin, it should be high once USB_VBUS is high. It only goes low when OverCURRENT happened.

You can use external signal to control Vbus switch on and off to control downstream port.

So for what is used for the I2C communication? I thought that was to control the downstream ports by switching them on and off

i also saw this and i thought that with this registers i could control with PWRCTL pins the downstream ports remotely.

I2C is for EEPROM since hub I2C is master.

But you can use SMBUS or EEPROM to control downstream ports used or not used for TUSB8041A, not TUSB8041.

So if i use the ic TUSB8041A, with those registers I would be able to have individual control over the downstream ports to switch them on/off?

Yes, it's easy to use SMBUS to turn on or off for downstream ports with register 07h, 08h and 26h.
