DS90UB928Q-Q1: [0x3B] Adaptive EQ Status

Part Number: DS90UB928Q-Q1

Hi team,

what is the meaning of value of the status register shown below ?

It means, I’m wondering what we can know judging by value of the register.

It can be regarded as the bigger would be better, or any specific value is expected?

Regards,

Youhei MIYAOKA

  • Hello Youhei-san,

AEQ status register has 6 bits, which represent two stages. First stage is bits [2:0] and stage two is bits [5:3]. Each stage starts with the value 000 and ends with 111.

So, the max you can see in this register is 0x3F. Higher value means more equalization, and lower value represents lower equalization.

Higher equalization means either the cable is longer, or the signal has lower quality which means for both cases higher loss. That triggers the AEQ to go higher to compensate for the higher loss.

    Hope that helps.
