TCAN1146-Q1: CANBUSTERMOPEN detect function issue

Part Number: TCAN1146-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi,Ti:

10.6.43 INT_CANBUS Register (Address = 54h)

read thie CANBUSTERMOPEN bit.

Detecting CAN bus has one termination point open(CANL or CANH open),whether TCAN1146 should always send out data .

  • Hi Bert,

The INT_CANBUS interrupt fields indicate that the fault detection circuit in TCAN1146 has detected non-ideal conditions on the CAN bus. The CANBUSTEROPEN bit is set when this circuit detects too small of a current flowing from the CANH pin to the CANL pin during a dominant bit. This typically indicates that the CAN bus has more than the typical 60-ohms of termination resistance placed on the CAN bus.

If this was identified during bench testing, please ensure that there is a total of 60-ohms of resistance between the CANH and CANL lines of the CAN bus. If this appears during operation in an application, the system designer may use this information to indicate the fault to a technician or to entera fail-safe operation state that is more capable of driving communication on a faulty bus (such as lowering the data rate or disabling FD).

Let me know if you have any more questions.

    Regards,
    Eric Schott

  • Hi Eric Schott:

    Thanks for you reply。

The INT_CANBUS interrupt fields indicate that the fault detection circuit in TCAN1146 has detected non-ideal conditions on the CAN bus.

    non-ideal conditions-----> means no free  or no-idle , I understand  this right?

  • Bert,

Non-ideal conditions means that either a fault has been detected while communication is happening, or temperature and voltage conditions have caused a reading that could be interpreted as a fault by the transceiver, again, while communication is happening.

    Regards,

    Eric Hackett
