Hi,

We've integrated the DP83869HM with our Linux system and are attempting to use it with a Fibre connection. We've added it to the device tree and added the dp83869 driver to our Kernel build. It appears the PHY is discovered by the Kernel but the link is not up. We've looked through the PHY registers and confirmed everything is in the correct mode. Disconnecting and reconnecting the fiber connection does not display any messages.

Using ifconfig, we can configure an IP and ping the connection, as long as it's on the local network. However, we have a second PHY on the board connected to copper and it seems that the communication is being routed through this one. Pinging of the PHY connected to fiber does not work if the copper is disconnected.

We've had a look through the troubleshooting guide but haven't found anything to help us with this issue.

Thank you for trying out the troubleshooting guide.

If possible, could you provide me block diagram on your current setup? The main information we would like to know is what mode DP83869 currently configure in.

If possible, could you check the registers log in the troubleshooting guide? and also register 0x0C01 to 0x0C18?

Hi Hillman,

When I looked through the registers I could see that the device was in the RGMII to 1000Base-X mode, which I believe is the correct mode.

Could you describe to me what components you need to see in this block diagram?

I'll check the registers and log that you suggest.

I think I am mainly looking for the mode DP83869 currently is operate in. This is good for now.

Hi Hillman,

Looks like the link came up when we disabled the auto-negotiation. This was done after booting up and using ethtool. Do you know how we can specify this with the device tree so the driver will handle this automatically?
