SN65HVD01: SN65HVD01 different speeds(SLR:Slew rate select) for each

Part Number: SN65HVD01

Tool/software:

What happens if I communicate using two SN65HVD01s and set different speeds for each?

If I set IC 1 to 250kbps with SLR set to VL and set IC 2 to 20Mbps with GND, will communication work?

Or, if set to GND, it is set to 20Mbps, but can communicate at 250kbps. Will there be a problem if both SN65HVD01 are set to GND and communicate at 250kbps?

Is it possible to change the firmware to change 20Mbps to 250kbps for communication?

  • The SLR pin sets the maximum speed that the device can transmit. 250 kbps always works, and the receiver always can handle up to 20 Mbps.

If you configure a driver for high speed but transmit only low-speed signals, then the output edges will be faster than necessary. This can increase EMI, but has no other effects.

  • I agree with Clemens on this question.
