ISO7240CF Power only one side of isolator

Hi, I am looking at the ISO7240 to use in a design. Is it possible to leave one of the voltage supply rails unpowered for any amount of time while the other is powered? This would simplify my design greatly. The datasheet says very little about this kind of operation. In my mind it should be possible since there is only capacitive coupling between the two sides.

  • Steven, please click onto the "Files" button above and open or download the document "Isolator output conditions during power-up". This shows you what happens if one supply ramps faster than the other.

And yes, you can have one supply on while the other is off for an indefinite time. Regards, Thomas
