Hi Team

  My customer Zhuzhou would like to use SCANSTA112 for multiple Jtag programming, but both I and customer don't have any ideas for this device, so I'd like to check with you for more details:

1. Does SCANSTA112 need programmed to use?

2. If I have DSP, FPGA, MCU on board and need to use SCANSTA112 to reduce the JTAG port, should I change the  different Emulator for different devices?

Do you have more documents to introduce how to use this kind of devices? thanks.

    Hi Randy,

    1. This depends. If the SCANSTA112 is programmed to operate in Stitcher Mode, then it can be configured manually by pin settings and left to operate as is. If the SCANSTA112 is operating in Scanbridge Mode, or if there is a need to change its behavior in the middle of operation (for example, change the device to operate in Transparent Mode after configuring the device), then you will need to access the SCANSTA112 via its JTAG boundary cells or internal logic registers.

    2. I am not quite sure I understand what you are asking about.  Are you asking about how to partition the scan chain for each of these devices so that each one is on a separate LSP?

    I would suggest looking at the SCANSTA112 Designer's Reference for information about how to control the SCANSTA112. Another good resource is the SCANSTA101 Design Guide: 8371.SCANSTA101_Design_Guide2010.pdf

    Unfortunately, we cannot offer more support besides these reference documents, since the original team that supported these products no longer exists in TI, and we have limited expertise remaining for these products.

    In addition to these documents, I suggest consulting with ATPG (Automatic Test Pattern Generator) Tool vendors such as JTAG Technologies, XJTAG, or Keysight Technologies for more information about setting up boundary scan chains to operate with devices such as the SCANSTA111 as part of the chain. They typically have a way to integrate these ICs into the boundary scan chain automatically within their software tool.
