TLK10232: TLK10232 Default hardware configuration

Part Number: TLK10232

Hi,ti

please answer following question,thank you!

1,If TLK10232 is as default hardware configuration and not configred by smi bus,can it work well and support xaui to sfi ?

2,If I connect TLK10232 to FPGA,the low speed bus of tlk10232 is cml and fpga is pcml, are the compatible?

  • Hello,

    1. By default configuration the device will be set in 10GBASE-KR mode (Link Training and Auto-Negotiation enabled), if the application is going to interface with optical modules (SFI) these features need to be disabled, hence, by default this device is not able to interface with optical modules. Thus, the MDIO communication must be used.

    2. PCML is Altera's Pseudo-CML, theoretically, it shouldn't be an issue, although you should check the Altera documentation to see if they require additional termination (series capacitors). For more detail on termination please check the hardware design.
