Hi,

Application: (Single USB Port on a Embedded System)

1. User will Use to Charge Mobile (5V @ 1Amps) from this Embedded System.

2. Developer will use to store data in Pen drive from this Embedded System .

Below is the Schematic:

Doubts:

1. Is CDP Mode Choosen, correct for this application.

2. Hardwiring Ctrl 1, Ctrl 2, Ctrl 3, I_Lim_select Pins is Correct (?) (Pin 6,7,8,4)

3. As Enable Pin is also hardwired, Can status and fault pins left unconnected?

Hi Siddharth,

1. Yes CDP mode is correct. CDP enables USB2.0 communications as well as charging at up to 1.5A. Just be aware that not all devices will charge at 1A as they may not be BC1.2 compliant. They should still charge though.

2. Yes. There should be no issue hard wiring the CTRL pins and the current limit pins. Just make sure to select the correct current limit (HI) and set the current limit accordingly.

3. Yes. The status and fault pins can be left unconnected but I'd recommend leaving the pull-up resistors just in case there are issues. These could help in debugging.

When a phone is connected, is data communications needed as well or just charging?

Hi Donovan,

When a phone is connected, is data communications needed as well or just charging?

Thats not clear as of now from application point, but would like to have provisions for this functionality (charging and data transfer simultaneously).

Question:

1. 1 Ampere is my SMPS limit, so setting I Lim_High to 1 A, is correct?

2. What limit to set for I_Lim_Low ?

Hi Siddharth,

1. Yes set your high current limit according to your SMPS's limit.

2. You can set the I_Lim_Low to any lower current value. It won't matter since you are only going to use the high current limit. You could just set it based on the EVM.

Hi Donovan,

Should Series resistor on DM_OUT, DP_Out Pin be added for voltage difference b/w TPS2543 (5V) and TMS320F28069 (3.3V). What Value?

Hi Siddharth,

No. There is no need for series resistors on the D+ and D- pins as the signals will only pass through the TPS2543's internal mux from the TMS320F28069.
