TPIC8101: OSCin Parameter

Part Number: TPIC8101

The question is, there’s OSCin parameter in TPIC. What exactly is the role of this parameter in TPIC? My understanding is, even if we feed 4MHz externally, if we program this parameter to 16MHz, it should scale up within the chip. Is this understanding correct?

  • Pranav,

The OSCin parameter should be set to match the input clock signal. So if you feed 4MHz externally, then OSCin should be set to 4MHz. The TPIC8101 will then scale this to the correct internal sampling frequency that it is expecting.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.
