SN65HVD1471: Hardware interface with microcontroller

Part Number: SN65HVD1471

Hi...

At the differential pair of SN65HVD1471 i.e. A,B,Y,Z pins is there any need to connect some resistors? If yes could you please mention the specification.

And R pin of transceiver is denoted as digital output in datasheet, so how to connect the Transmitter pin of micro controller?, to R or D of SN65HVD1471?

  • Hi,

Termination resistors should be used between each differential pair (A to B and Y to Z) at each cable end (first and last device on the bus). See section 10.1, figure 30 on the datasheet. The value of these resistors should match the characteristic impedance of the cable being used. This value for most twisted pair cables is 120-Ohm.

The R pin can connect to a 3.3V digital input of a micro-controller to read the data received by the transceiver (on pins A and B). The D pin can connect to digital output of a micro-controller to drive the transceiver output (pins Y and Z).

Let me know if this makes sense.

    Regards,
    Eric
