TLK10232: TLK10232 Bring up document potential typos

Part Number: TLK10232

Hi all,

My customer is working on initializing the TLK10232 for their environment. They are following the tlk10232_BringupProcedures_v2.pdf that is marked Ver 2.0 - January 2013, and "preliminary - subject to change".

Is this the most recent version of the bring up document? If not, could you provide a link to the most updated document?

The customer noticed some potential typos as described below:

In the section titled:

KR using manual mode settings learned from Link Training, with 156.25 MHz / 312.5 MHz Refclk

There is a subsection called:

Default HS Tx settings loading and LT controls

Within this section are the following instructions:

“o Write 16’h2000 to 7.0

o Write 16’h0000 to 30.150

o …

o Write 16’h0002 to 30.150

o Write 16’h1C00 to 30.36869”

This appears to be disabling the start-up protocol for Link training and then later re-enabling the startup protocol.

However, that should be done by writing to Device Address 0x01 instead of 30 (0x1E).

Device Address 0x1E.0x96 (30.150) isn’t referenced anywhere in the TLK10232 datasheet.

As mentioned above, DeviceAddr.Reg 0x1.0x96 (1.150) is defined in the LT_TRAIN_CONTROL section of the tlk10232 datasheet.

Are these instructions correct?

Thank you,

Jon

  • Jon,

You are referring to the most recent version of the document and this is not a typo in the document. The LT_TRAIN_CONTROL register can also be reached through address 0x1E.0x96 (30.150). DeviceAddr.Reg 0x1.0x96 (1.150) can also be used per the datasheet.
