TPD1E05U06-Q1: Protection of USB 2.0 Lines fails

Did you try to reverse the part and put pin2 on signal and pin 1 on ground? Or does it not work both ways?

I didn't yet try to reverse the part and put pin2 on signal and pin 1 on ground. This will not be according to how the data sheet says to connect it ????

I understand I am just trying to understand if the device is damaged or just backwards.

So I swapped the direction of both Diodes and it works ??? 

We double checked the signalling and the PCB and indeed now connecting pin2(GND) to the I/O on the board and pin1(I/O) to the GND of the board ?! 

Is this configuration going to give any protection to the USB signals ?

The device is very small (X1SON: 1.1mm x 0.7xx) so I don't think I could send you a picture of the device but I will see what I can manage

Is there a chance that there is a mistake in the data sheet ? If yes why does the USB 3.0 SS signals work on my board ?
