SN75DP129: Reference schematic, DP to HDMI video converter

Do you have DP or DP++ input? DP129 is a DP++ to TMDS translator. For DP to HDMI, you would need an active protocol converter which we do not have.

Uff...

I noticed dp++ in sn75dp159 or dp149, but didn´t read any dp++ in sn75dp129 or dp139 datasheet. So  these 129 or 139 are not ok to convert DP video into HDMI video. Any advice?

What about PTN3365? In the description the say "active DDC buffer. Do you think it means DP to HDMI direct conversion  as we need?

Hi again David, and thanks for your information.

After doing more research, the SBC we are using for our prototype is the UP CORE PLUS, which has a full eDP video port. The 10.1" touch screen we use (SunFounder) has a HDMI input/LVDS out controller board. We wonder if we could use the eDP source video to drive directly the LVDS screen bus using a TI device. We have found SN65DSI83. Do you think that conversion is possible that way? Does it need extra software drivers or chipset to convert from eDP to LVDS?

Yes, we need to convert DP video out into HDMI, to drive a controller board, but our SBC has an extra video 41 pins  DSI/eDP connector (UP CORE PLUS). In SN65DSI83-Q1, it says

• Supports Single Channel DSI to Single-Link LVDS Operating Mode

Does it mean we can convert our video out from the DSI/eDP 41 pins connector to LVDS, to drive directly the screen?

Hi Jose,

If your SBC has a MIPI DSI output then using the SN65DSI83 may be an option, but you will need to confirm that your touchscreen can accept the LVDS input directly.

We will try to find out if the 10.1" SunFounder touchscreen accepts LVDS input directly. In case it doesn´t, what do we need?, a LVDS transceiver? SN65LVDS4 or similar, for example?

This info does not indicate the panel can support LVDS, can you please check with SunFounder that the panel supports TMDS, LVDS, or both?

The datasheet shows this is a 1 channel LVDS, SN65DSI83 supports single-channel DSI to single-link LVDS.
