Data is transmitted between the following ICs by communication between devices.
① DS26C31TM → DS26LV32ATM
② DS26C31TM → ISO3086DW

In the case of ②, only the DS26C31TM is damaged, and communication is not possible.
(Use only 2 and 3 pins connected)

We measured the (2-3pin) resistance value of the damaged DS26C31TM and shorted it between GND.

There is no communication failure (device damage) in the device combination ①.

What can be the reason why the DS26C31TM is damaged due to the connection in ②?
(Is the device connection in ② causing trouble?)

(No ESD protection element is used for the differential signal line)

Hi Cafain,

The ISO3086 has a greater max input voltage than the DS26C31. This could be why the driver displays damage while the receiver does not. As to the reason that damage occurs, I have a few clarification questions:

1. Could you share how DS26C31 is connected to ISO3086?

2. What conditions is the bus being exposed to? Anything that may cause voltage or current spikes other than the driver?

3. When measuring the damaged device, pins 3-4 (driver bus output) were found to be shorted to ground internally. Is this correct?
