Hi,
I am looking for the PWM to Analog Dimming LED driver IC in TI. In my previous design, I used other IC in which I am not able to turn off the led completely in the PWM to analog dimming method.
I need an LED Driver IC to achieve the PWM to Analog dimming (with complete turn off the LED). if there is anything, please share the part number.
Thanks
Hi Praveen,
You can check TPS61165, TPS54201 whether it can meet your requirement or not? If you can provide more information, that I can provide more professional advice.
Regards
Sean
Hi Sean
Thanks for your response.
I am trying to drive two LEDs At least I need 3 Channel, Maximum Current per channel is going to be around 100mA, Input Voltage is about 5V.
PFA, Now We are using Diode LED Driver AL3065. Here we got the problem that we cannot able to turn off the led in the PWM analog dimming method.
Thanks and regards
Praveen
Hi Praveen,
I suggest to use LP8556, this is a six channel led driver ,each channel can driver up to 50mA , you can combine two channles together to driver 100mA and for such kind of current sink led driver, you can completerly turn off the LED

Hi Sean
Thanks for your response.
Is there any reference design or Schematic are available for the IC.
Because for validating the IC will be easier.
Thanks
Praveen
Hi Praveen,
Yes, you can request the EVM with this link:http://www.ti.com/product/LP8556/toolssoftware to evaluate this device.

Sean
Thanks, Sean
We are a Medical R&D based company, Will you able to provide the Development kit for evaluating (also we will sent you back)? If it works we will go for mass production.
It's possible?
Thanks.
Hi Praveen,
Please contact with the TI sales or distribuctor to help you reply the LP8556EVM for evaluation. thanks.
Regards
Sean
Hi Sean,
On the website, I can get the sample only for an IC's. There is no EVM for free samples on the website.
There is any specific person I need to contact to get the EVM?
Thanks
Praveen
Hi Praveen,
You can apply this EVM with this link: http://www.ti.com/tool/LP8556SQ-EVM
or http://www.ti.com/tool/LP8556TM-EVM#1

Hi Sean
There is any other IC that uses the Analog PWM Dimming method. I think which you suggested part number uses PWM dimming and output has a Current sink.
And, I have doubt that Analog dimming works on the current sink and the current source method?
Thanks
Hi Sir,
Analog dimming mode means the output current is continuous and the input signal can be analog or pwm;

Sean
Hi Sean
The Driver which you have suggested works on pure PWM Dimming method,
I am Looking for an Analog PWM Dimming. Which is?
Analog PWM dimming takes the PWM input and converts it to an analog control signal (Done in Internal Circuit) . This analog control signal is used to adjust the voltage reference, which then sets the DC LED current.
Anyway, it is going to PWM input but I need a Driver that has to convert the PWM input to an analog control voltage that has to change the led current.
Will you please suggest the part number.
Thanks
Praveen
Hi Praveen,
No, LP8556 is very strong, it can support several dimming mode; LP8556 can support the PWM to Analog dimming mode which you can change the dimming mode with the regs. Please read the datasheet carefully.

Sean
Hi Sean.
I have checked the datasheet
I think you are saying this thing. But there is no change in circuit.
I need to share one thing that I communicated to Diodes Semi-Conductors.
They have explained the Internal block diagram of PWM to the analog dimming method of AL3065.
I am confused about this.
They have mention different kinds of Dimming techniques and Different kind of circuit connections.
Any way the Output is current-controlled (Analog type).
I am tried PWM to analog dimming. It has internal Circuitry which converts PWM to Analog then it controls the Output current respect to that.
In LP8556, I did not see this kind of internal blocks to convert PWM to Analog.
Also, I have gone through http://www.ti.com/lit/an/snva768/snva768.pdf
As per this document, we need a Driver to achieve Analog PWM dimming.
Thanks
Praveen
Hi Praveen,
We will not put every detail block on the block diagram, but LP8556 do support PWM to analog dimming,
