Line driver buffer and level translator request with 1.2V control logic voltage

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN75LBC968, SN65MLVD206B

Hi Team,

Do we have a TI product to recommend with the customer with something like SN75LBC968 but can interface between 5V TTL BNC cables and 1.2V logic to FPGA on PCB.
The customer application was to drive 75-ohm BNC cables at up to 100Mbps with the bidirectional performance provided the control voltage is 1.2V logic. The component must also interface between 1.2 V logic in the controller and 5V logic in the BNCs.

Another device he needs is for the same application but for >200Mbps differential +/-5V RS-422 Tx/Rx to 1.2V LVDS.

Please let me know if you need more information.

Thanks!

Jonathan

  • Hi Jonathan,

For the differential use case, >200 Mbps is generally too high for a higher-voltage interface like RS-422.  Have you considered using a different signaling standard like LVDS or M-LVDS for this?  For example, the SN65MLVD206B transceiver is specified to achieve up to 200 Mbps.

For the single-ended 5-V use case, I'll loop in our logic team to see if they know of a level translator device supporting these voltages and a data rate of up to 100 Mbps.

    Regards,
    Max

  • Hi Jonathan,

We unfortunately don't have any devices that can provide translation from 1.2V to 5V yet.

    Thanks!
