SN75LVDS83B: LVDS to PC capture solution

Part Number: SN75LVDS83B

Hi,

we are using two TI's ICs as shown in the attached schematic to convert a Compute Module HDMI signal into LVDS for a custom display.

The board is complex so we don't want to modify it. But we now need to get those LVDS signals and convert them into any standard format that can be fed into a PC for capturing the real time display image/video.

We need to convert those LVDS signals into ANY standard that is accepted by any standard off-the-shelf video grabbing devices (like HDMI, S-video to USB, RGB to USB etc).

We need a very compact and ideally low cost (ideally singl-IC) solution.

What are the options?

Many thanks

  • Hello Steve,

We have this board design as a reference that converts RGB (926 output) or LVDS (948 output) to DVI (HDMI). Would this work for your application?

  • Thank you Casey,

I looked at the schematic and cannot find how the PC software communicates to the board to configure it. Does it communicate to the other board shown?

    1) Could you please explain that?

    2) Also if we replicate the schematic shown in the document you sent the link for, can we program/configure it directly (through whatever interface you might mention in point 1 above) or do we need some other TI platform/PCB to do any programming/configuration?

    3) do we need to configure any of the ICs used in that schematic? We previously used the 401 without any programming but maybe it needs programming for special configurations/functions?

    4) we cannot find that board anywhere. Not even a product page on TI website. Is it available? Where and how much?

    Many thanks

    Steve

  • Hello Steve,

There is no SW configuration needed to operate this. It will automatically convert RGB or LVDS (depending on switch configuration) to HDMI output.

The board itself is not order-able on TI.com but if you would like to send me a private message I can send you the design files to build your own boards. Alternatively you could leverage the reference schematics to make a similar system to meet your needs.

    Best Regards,
