TPS66121: Where should I connect Vin and from what does PPHV GETS power from vbus or from vin

Hi,

Can we apply same external power to vin and vbus.

From where does PPHV gets the power from vbus or vin?

Can I used used to supply vbus pin of controller using VLDO pin if in case I have grounded the vin pin.

Hi Vishay,

VIN is an optional voltage to power on the internal logic of TPS66121. In your case (VIN is grounded) the internal logic and VLDO will be powered by the voltage from VBUS. This is called "dead Battery Mode" and assumes all power comes from VBUS. Please review section 7.3.4 Power Management and Supervisory from data sheet for the details.

PPHV will get the voltage from VBUS once the switch is enabled.

You can not supply power to VBUS. the power flow is sink mode: From VBUS to PPHV.

I want to connect same 5V input at VBus and vin. Can I connect?

This may not be a good idea, since VBUS has a input range from 4V to 22V and VIN for TPS66121 is 5V only.

If VBUS won't change and keep 5V only then is OK.
