TUSB1002: Setting for using TUSB1002?

Part Number: TUSB1002
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: , TUSB522P,

Hi, I am going to use TUSB1002 for my usb 3.2 device.

I have 4 questions for using this. Please help me.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Tusb1002 has too many options for setting.

But there is no pcb area for put pin header for options like TUSB1002EVM.(EQ1, EQ2, CF1, CF2, ..etc)

I am using this TUSB1002 first time, so I have no idea about how these settings wil effect USB Signals.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. What do you think about make all the pins for floating and put NC resistor for later tuning options?

Are making Floating these pins are kind of default mode?

-----------------------------------------------------------

2. I have another question about mode pin.

Mode 0 = Basic Redriver mode

Mode F = USB 3.2 Dual channel operation.

Could you tell me what is different between Basic Redriver mode and Dual channel operation?

---------------------------------------------

3. I have used TSUB522P before.

When I used this, No accoupling capacitors are placed on the RX2P and RX2N pins

because it is assumed the device downstream of the TUSB522P will have ac-coupling capacitors on its transmitter as defined by the USB 3.1 specification.

But In the datasheet TUSB1002, there says like below.

Is this mean I don't have to put ac coupling capacitor?

Or If I put 330nF and 220k Resistors as options, how does it will effect?

---------------------------------------------------

4. If I use TUSB522P for USB3.2 Devices, won't this work properly?

5. Can I tie EN pin to VCC?

Thanks.

  • Hi,

    1. Please refer to Table 1, 4 level control pin setting. You can leave EQ and CFG pins floating (F). Leave EQ 'F" would set EQ 8.4dB 2.5GHz or13.1dB gain for 5G Nyquist frequency. Please refer to the TUSB1002A Configuration Guide App Note on how to configure the TUSB1002,

    2.   The TUSB1002A can be used as a basic redriver for non-USB3.2 x1 applications. When the TUSB1002A MODE pin = “0”, the TUSB1002A enables both channels receiver and transmitter paths. The channel receiver and transmitter termination are both enabled. All USB3.2 power management functionality is disabled.

    3. AC coupling capacitors on RXp/n are optional and were added as part of the USB ECN for ESD protection purpose.

    4. TUSB522P can be used with USB3.2 device but the data rate will be limited to 5G (USB3.2 Gen 1).

    Thanks

    David

  • Thanks for quick reply.

    Very helpful to me.

    I have another question.

Can I tie EN pin to VCC?

  • Hi,

You can leave EN floating or 220nF capacitor to GND since it has an internal pull up resistor approximately 400k.

    Thanks
