TCA9554A: does this support hot insert

Part Number: TCA9554A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCA9554

hi team,

I want to use 1pcs TCA9554 or TCA9554A to expand GPIO,these GPIO will connect to some signal of Optical module which will be hot insert into our board.

So I want to know does TCA9554 or TCA9554A support hot insert? Or does it support the application scenarios I mentioned above? If not, can you help recommend a more suitable one?

Both input voltage and output voltage are 3.3V, and communication speed is <1kHz.

thanks.

  • Hi Kelly,

Our device can support those voltage ranges however you need to ensure that transients during insertions do not exceed the absolute maximum specified in our datasheet. This may require you to include TVS diodes or schottky diodes to suppress negative/overvoltage swings if the inserted load is inductive.
