TCAN1042H: Common mode voltage test

Part Number: TCAN1042H

Hi team,

My customer wants to inject common mode voltage on CANH and CANL to test the reliability, is there any method to implement this test?

Thanks,

Charles

  • Charles,

Are you referring to a test where a signal is injected onto the CAN bus as a common-mode signal? If so, a simple configuration of an injection point where CANH and CANL are shorted to together would work:

Where the injection point is where the two signals connect on the left, CH and CL refer to CANH and CANL respectively, and the capacitors are the same value, as well as the resistors. In this particular setup for some of our certification testing, the capacitors are 4.7nF and the resistors are 120 ohms.

Let me know if this helps, and if not, can you give more details on the specific test?

    Regards,
