TLK10031: TLK10031 -LS_OK_IN_A (B10 Pin) & LS_OK_OUT_A (D9 Pin) connection

As per our requirement, our connection is as follows.

10G sfp signals from PORT_MAIN are connected to HS of TLK10031. LS signals of PORT_MAIN TLK10031 are connected to MUX, and can be switched to any of the devices( say LINK A, LINK B are connected to LS side of another device). Again at the HS signals of corresponding devices are connected to the SFP.

Our doubt is, whether we want to connect LS_OK_IN_A (B10 pin) of PORT_MAIN TLK10031, to be connected to the LS_OK_OUT_A (D9 pin) of LINK A TLK10031 & LINK B TLK10031 via mux.

LINK_OK_OUT_A (D9 pin) of PORT_MAIN TLK10031, to be connected to the LS_OK_IN_A (B10 Pin) of LINK A TLK10031 & LINK B TLK10031 via mux.

Along with this, in datasheet it is mentioned as

I) REFCLK1P/N, if unused, REFCLK1P/N should be pulled down to GND through a shared 100 Ω resistor.

Whether the below connection is correct or not? please confirm.

II) If i am connecting the clock, where should we place the AC coupling capacitor, at clock generator side? or at the TLK10031 chipset side?

Your REFCLK1 p and n signals configuration is ok. The AC coupling caps may be placed at clock generator side.

Hi,

Frankly I don’t know for sure as this is an old document that I was not involved in drafting. Both of these parameters are differential. Thinking about it terms of an eye diagram, my best guess is that the peak-to-peak value or VID(pp) is the signal peak amplitude corresponding to lower frequency component of data while the VID as listed in the datasheet is the inner eye height or amplitude you would measure if the data was purely 1010.
