Greetings,

we would like to have a connection to our camera through the derserializer kit, Aardvark --> deserailizer kit --> serializer chip --> MCU
Could we replace the Aardvark with the On-chip I2C exist on the deserailizer kit ?? as we can already use this on-chip I2C to send to deserializer & serailizer.

we didn't find any related APIs in ALP SW, most of the APIs is dedicated sending to derserializer only ( ex: board.WriteI2C ..)

Hello Hanna,

Yes, you can use the embedded uC on the EVM to communicate with the remote SER, as well as with the local DES, as following:

Remote:

board.ReadI2C(Device address, Register Address, length) ==> Example: board.ReadI2C(0x18, 0x00, 1)

board.WriteI2C(Device address, Register Address, value) ==> Example: board.WriteI2C(0x18, 0x01, 0x01)

Local:

board.ReadReg (address, length) ==> Example: board.ReadReg(0x5E, 1)

board.WriteReg (address, value) ==> Example: board.WriteReg(0x5E, 0x58)

Hello Hamzeh,
Yes that's correct, however we'd like to send from the kit to the ECU camera, not the deserailizer nor serializer.Is that possible ?

Hanna,

Do you mean, you want to communicate from the 934 EVM directly to the SER in the Camera, or through the DES to the SER?

Or you want to communicate from the 934 EVM directly with the Image sensor?

Yes, we wanna communicate from the 934 EVM directly with the Image sensor( HOST),
we already did that with using Aardvark, but we wanna do it without the Aardvark since the kit has on-chip I2C, Could we talk directly from the kit to the HOST

Deserializer Kit --(Deserializer chip)--> LVDS --> serializer -->Camera(Our Host)

This is the very normal way how you communicate with the Sensor and Initialize it. Nothing is special, so please follow these steps:

- Enable communication through Rx Port0 or 1, whatever you are using, in reg 0x4C.
- Enable I2C Pass-Through, in reg 0x5E.
- Define the Imager ID and Alias.
- Write the commands you want into the Image sensor. Note, the Sensor registers have 16-bit addresses, hence the commands will look like this:
board.WriteI2C(Sensor Alias,0x32, [0x8a,value])
The register address in this example is 0x328a

Sorry I didn't get why should we use alias.
Please find the below image of a simplified architecture for what we are working on.
what we want to do is to communicate with the MCU not the imager sensor, the MCU doesn't have register address.
For example, what shall we do if we wanna send a byte ( 0x31) to our MCU ( of slave address 0x5E).

what do you mean by the MCU doesn't have registers? How do you want to send register values then?
