SN75LVCP601: Is SN75LVCP601 supports SATA3 or SATA2 only

Hi,

When "quick search" for the SATA3 redriver, the SN75LVCP601 is not a matching part.

If I lower the protocol to SATA2 redriver, the SN75LVCP601 is seen as an option.

But at the same time, the SN75LVCP601 is for up to 6Gbps interfaces.

Any reason why it wouldn't be part of the "SATA3" protocol ?

Hi Luc,

I believe SN75LVCP601 can be used for SATA3 applications as well. Main difference between SATA2 and 3 is the data rate or bandwidth. OOB is common between them. You can do system level simulation using SN75LVCP601 IBIS_AMI model with your transmission media at SATA3 rates.

I checked E2E cases and there is one case where the user was able to get both SATA2 and 3 to work with LVCP601 - note he had to fine tune EQ settings. Here is a reference to this case:
