DS90UB913Q-Q1: are there any SerDes that are medical grade?

Part Number: DS90UB913Q-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ISO7821LLS

Does TI have any SerDes chips which will comply with EN60601 medical standards?

I'd like to know if there are any SerDes chips that are medical grade? or example, is the DS90UB913 medical grade? i'm checking if DS90UB913 can be used.
who can i contact here in Europe that could help to see if this chip can be certified later for EN60601?

  • Hello Renelson,

to our knowledge, the Norm EN60601 is not about semiconductors but it's intended for system level testing like end equipment.

For more details, please see this Thread!

  • Hi Hamzeh,

I do have the same question from the thread you shared.

I'd like to clarify if the SerDes is qualified for Safety-Related Certifications such as the following?

    • CSA Component Acceptance Notice 5A, IEC 60950–1 and IEC 60601–1 End Equipment Standards
    • TUV Certification per EN 61010-1 and EN60950-1

For example, the datasheet of ISO7821LLS specifically mentions this type of certifications. Are there SerDes chips which also have this indications?

  • Hello Renelson,

Can you please cpecify what are you looking to achieve at the system level? Is this is something related to isolation?

  • Hi Hamzeh,

Yes, it's about meeting isolation requirements (i.e. galvanic).

  • Hello Renelson,

FPD-Link is not an isolated technology so I don’t think that would be applicable. Nevertheless, below you can see the topology we suggest for medical application, which should work for you as well!
