DS280DF810: Usable for PCI Express 3.0?

Part Number: DS280DF810

Hi,

I want a flexible data fabric interface on a VPX 3U FPGA card - PCI Express (8 Gbps) SRIO (10.3125 Gbps) and 10GBe, with a retimer at the connector to clean up the mess.

If the DS280DF810 can handle PCIe at 8Gbps I can add 100GBase-KR4 - but unlike SRIO and 10GBe, PCIe at 8Gbps is not a /2 or /4 even fraction of the 20.2 to 28.4 Gbps range.

Does that mean that this part can't be used for PCI Express 3.0?

Thanks in advance,

John

  • Hi John,

That is correct, the DS280DF810 is not usable for PCI Express.

We have several PCIe Gen3 devices with a similar channel configuration.  I would recommend using the DS125BR820 - it can cover PCIe, 10G-KR, and SRIO.

    Regards,

    Lee

Thanks, Lee.  that's what I figured.

I have been looking at the DS125BR820, it is so flexible.
