Hi, We are using TLK10034 and DS100MB203 in one of our designs. And the data link is not working. We want to simulate the link and check for any signal integrity issues in the link. Now considering the DS100MB203 device as transparent, can we use an ideal transmission line in place of it or should we use IBIS model of the same.

    You should use the AMI model of the DS100MB203.  The model can be requested on the DS100MB203 product folder on www.ti.com

    Hi,
    The datasheet of DS100MB203 says that it is a transparent device in 10GBaseKr mode. Now the signal is coming from TLK10034 and passing through DS100MB203 and onto the switch device.
    The following is our thought process.
    If we are to use AMI transmitter model for DS100MB203, how are we supposed to include the loss in the signal from TLK10034 to DS100MB203. Using AMI model of DS100MB203 implies we are considering a 10GBaseKr signal originating from DS100MB203 for simulation. This will not be the case if we consider it to be a transparent device just passing on what it receives.

    Please clarify on this.

    I recommend to use the AMI model and setup the MB203 to be located as it is in the middle of the 10G-KR link.  With this topology you can have a channel segment before and after the repeater model.
