SN74AVC2T244: Temperature

Part Number: SN74AVC2T244

Hi,

Good Day. That FAQ notes (https://e2e.ti.com/support/logic-group/logic/f/logic-forum/716186/faq-what-is-the-maximum-junction-temperature-tjmax-for-a-device)

This is a "maximum" temperature but does not indicate if it's a damage limit or if that's the maximum for normal performance. Customer is interested in the Performance limit, specifically, not the damage limit.

e2e.ti.com/.../sn74avc2t244-thermal-charateristics

The above link can help the customer to predict a temperature, but what he is asking for is what temperature can it tolerate.

He is looking for the allowable Junction temperature such that the part functions normally. Usually there's a limit below which the part functions normally, and then another at which the part will be irreparably damaged.

Between these, it may have degraded performance, but not cease functioning. The first link provided a figure for absolute maximum Tj but it's unclear from the link and datasheet if this is the *damage threshold* or the *operational threshold.* He is assuming it's damage, because it's a maximum storage temperature, i.e. not relevant to the performance of the part when used.

If they're the same, He'd like that clarified, and if the operational temperature limit is lower, He'd like to know what *that* temperature is.

Best Regards,

Ray Vincent
