In that post, I was estimating the current through the clamping diode between the I/O pin and GND.

LV inputs do not have a clamping diode to V_CC. The absolute maximum rating of 7 V must not be exceeded, not even for a short time. (If you want to clamp input voltages, you can add an external diode to V_CC.)

In case of SN74VMEH22501A,can I estimate using IBIS model?(for example 7.2V overshoot)

The VME device does not have positive clamping diodes either; see [FAQ] Can the input voltage (Vi) to my logic device be higher than the supply voltage (Vcc)? (Only older logic families like HC or AC have them.)
