TIBPAL16R4-30M: PAL Power Dissipation vs. Frequency

Tool/software:

I am researching an obsolete parts replacement and the TIBPAL16R4-15MJB is a replacement part we are considering using.

However, this part has a higher power dissipation reported in the datasheet than what our obsolete part features. Is this due to the higher frequency that the newer part can operate, or is it a DC value (no I/Os changing)? Is there any information available regarding Pdiss vs. Frequency?

Hi Joe,

These parts are (practically) both obsolete. There is nobody left on our team who has any familiarity with them. I don't know enough about their design (or about whatever part you are replacing) to say why the power consumption might be higher.

Are there any of the TIBPAL16R4-30M parts available that I could use to measure the relation of Icc to frequency?

We have inventory on all of these devices. I'm not sure about sample availability if that's what you're asking, I'd have to ask marketing if we would support a sample order.

Are you able to share any more details about your application? We have a new line of programmable logic devices (TPLD) which might be a suitable and more modern alternative for whatever you're currently using.
