SN74LVC1G123: Cext pin connect to GND or only to the Cext?

Part Number: SN74LVC1G123

Tool/software:

Hello,
can you please clarify,
-from datasheet figure 5-1 the CEXT cap and also the CEXT pin is connected to GND also.
-from datasheet figure 8-1 for typ. application circuit the CEXT pin is not connected to GND.

We also saw from application not that the CEXT pin is not connected to GND for described applications.

So do we need to connect the CEXT pin also to GND and cap pin or is it sufficient to connect the CEXT pin only to the cap, when using as monoflop with triggering on falling edge at /A input.

Thanks for your answer in advance.

  • The application note Designing With the SN74LVC1G123 Monostable Multivibrator says:

5.6 Can I connect the Cext pin to ground?

It is best to follow the datasheet recommendations. If your monostable multivibrator recommends not connecting Cext to ground, then do not connect it to ground.

In some monostable multivibrators the Cext pin is internally tied to ground, but in some it is not. If the datasheet is unclear and the information is required, use an ohmmeter to check the resistance between the two pins. If the resistance reads less than 1 Ω, it is safe to connect both to ground.
