SN74LVT16244B: min value of input Voltage

Part Number: SN74LVT16244B

Hi

My customer is using SN74LVT16244B. Datasheet shows Vin range is -0.5V-7V. For customer Vin will be below -0.5V for about 10ns. Please help with below two questions. Thanks a lot!

1.What is Vin min value considering just existing 10ns?

2. As below says, if current meet the spec, then Vin could be below -0.5V. What does input clamp current mean?

Regards

David

  • Hi David,

First to answer your second question.  There are diodes from ground to the input and output pins on this device, as indicated by the ratings in the Absolute Maximum Ratings table above.

Clamp current is referring to the current through these clamp diodes.

Overshoot for a few ns typically won't cause any problems with our devices, however what we guarantee is what is listed in the datasheet. If there is overshoot beyond the absolute maximum value, then the current needs to be limited (in this case to 50 mA) to avoid damage to the device.
