SN74LVC8T245-EP: SN74LVC8T245MDWREP

Part Number: SN74LVC8T245-EP
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CD74HCT423, SN74HC244, SN74LVC8T245

Hi,

For level shifting certain logic from LVTTL (3.3V) to TTL (5V) logic I have incorporated SN74LVC8T245MDWREP and CALVC164245MDGGREP for Octal and 16 bit data level translation.

Are the devices SN74LVC8T245MDWREP and CALVC164245MDGGREP  capable to level shift signals upto 64 MHz? What is the higher limit of frequency for the signal through the level translators?

Can the signal of 5V be transmitted through 10 inch (upto) traces running over backplane from the cards having these level shifters?

Further I am looking for IBIS models for SI simulation for the below listed components.

Item Manufacturer Part Number
1 CALVC164245MDGGREP
2 CD74HCT423M
3 TLC555MJGB (5962-8950301PA)/SE555CJG/TLC555MJG
4 TPS73601MDCQREP
5 DRV8873HPWPRQ1
6 SN74HC253QDREP
7 SN74LVC8T245MDWREP (text format data available on TI website)

Thanks and Regards,

Subramaniam

  • Subramaniam,
I will help you with most of your questions.
For the devices that are not supported by the High Reliability group, you will have to post questions for those individual devices. The system will route them to the correct team to address.

For the first question, I would like to confirm with the logic team before I answer.

With respect to distance that can be safely driven. I would suggest that you simulate the device and board with IBIS models to validate termination, and SI.

    For the IBIS models:
1 CALVC164245MDGGREP See the commercial product folder in the Tools and Software tab for representative model:
    www.ti.com/.../toolssoftware

2 CD74HCT423M This is not a TI part number. However, the commercial device is the CD74HCT423. It does not have a IBIS model shown. Please post a query to E2E for this device. It will go to correct team for support.

3 TLC555MJGB (5962-8950301PA)/SE555CJG/TLC555MJG I am not aware of IBIS models being available for these devices.

4 TPS73601MDCQREP This is a regulator, and would not normally have an IBIS model available. There are PSpice models located in the commercial folder. www.ti.com/.../toolssoftware

5 DRV8873HPWPRQ1 I would not expect IBIS models to exist for this device. However, you can post to new e2e post to ask the correct team.

6 SN74HC253QDREP We do not have an IBIS model for this device. However, there is one SN74HC device with IBIS model that has representative output drivers. The SN74HC244 IBIS model can be used. It is located here: www.ti.com/.../toolssoftware

7 SN74LVC8T245MDWREP (text format data available on TI website) The model show in the product folder. www.ti.com/.../toolssoftware. Not sure why it does not show up as .ibs file for download. You can simply copy the entire text, paste it into empty text editor, and save the file as "sn74lvc8t245.ibs" Note, that the case in the file name is important. All must be lower case to match the filename embedded within the ibis model.

I will reply back with information on Q1.
    Regards,
    Wade
  • I was able to get confirmation that 64Mhz will not be an issue for these devices. Validation with the IBIS model should confirm this.
