Hi
We are planning to use MDC in below format. One Master Controller used to communicate with 9 slave devices.
Could you plz suggest a suitable buffer for 9 slave device for MDC.
The operating voltage is 3.3V
Thank you
Shilpa

Hello Shilpa,
Can you provide more detail around controller vs peripheral voltage?
Do you need translation or just buffering?
Are you expecting large capacitances on the lines?
Are you expecting there to be any communication from the peripheral back to the controller, or are the signals fixed direction?
Best,
Michael
Hello Michael,
Plz find below answers:
Controller and Peripheral are at 3.3V
Only Buffering is required
There is no capacitance on the line. Other than the trace capacitance. Trace length maximum of 5 inches
It is only a Clock and hence is only from Controller to Periheral and not other side.

Hi
It is one source(Controller) and a maximum of 9 slave devices (Peripherals). Every device to operate independently. Not all Slaves will be configured at once.
Is there any other Buffer IC or a clock buffer dedicated for MDC applications (Used to Configure Ethernet transceivers)
Plz suggest.

Shilpa
I am discussing on the MDC line.
Can i use an IC with part number CDCLVC1110. With this i can drive the MDC line from the processor to all the Slave devices.
Plz ignore "operate independently". It is fine even if some slaves see the clock signal.

Shilpa
LVC has enough drive strength for this length and speed.
That trace might be long enough to generate reflections due to transmission line effects. See the section "Proper Termination of Outputs" on page 1-27 of the LVC Designer's Guide. (Proper termination would be neeeded not only for LVC, but also for any other kind of output.)
