TMDSCNCD263: Ethernet Port Configuration For RGMII Interface

Hello Team,

we are using Eth, Port and EthTrcv driver from MCAL_AM263x_09.00.01.00 package, we are trying to create autosar Ethernet stack.

when we are trying use RGMII1 port from the TMDSCNCD263 PROC110A board, we are not able to see ethernet communication on the bus, but from our software side all initialization is successful and tries call Eth_transmit successfully everytime. we are using Polling mode and not interrupt for Rx and Tx.

Is there any additional settings that we need to take care with respect to Jumper settings, Port , Eth and EthTrcv configuration.

Also can you please provide us the sample demo configuration for the below shown RGMII interface

Please find attached configurations for Eth, Ethtrcv and Port and let us know the changes that we need to take care.

Also we reffered the sample files shared as part of Package (\mcal\examples_config) but still we have issue in setting up communication.

Hi Pradeep,

Meanwhile can you please confirm if the out of box MCAL SDK eth_app demo works for you. The demo is configured for RGMII Port 1 and should work fine.

Hello Shaunak,

Yes , with CCS setup it works.

But with our setup we are facing issue, even reception is not working, we are trying to send TcpIp frames continuously from tester but hardware is not receiving it.

So we wanted feedback from TI.

Hi Pradeep,

Can you please share the generated config header and C files.(like Eth_Cfg.c and Eth_Cfg.h)

I tried importing your XDM files but i'm always running into an error.

This happens for all three XDM files shared.

Hi Pradeep,

I tried replacing the out of box config files with the given generated config files, I ran into build errors. I had to directly compare the files using diff.

I have a few questions:

1. Are you sure the timeout durations set in EthTrcv are long enough for the configuration/negotiation/setup to complete?

2. To configure Polling mode instead of Interrupt, have you made any changes in your EthApp.c file?

3. You mentioned that CCS setup and Out of box examples work, does your configured example configuration work with CCS setup (I tried but ran into build time errors)?

Hello Shaunak,

Initially,, we used the same configuration as provided in package , the time taken to initialize Ethtrcv was too huge.

so we reduced it and Ethtrcv Init was Ok

1. Are you sure the timeout durations set in EthTrcv are long enough for the configuration/negotiation/setup to complete?

Feedback : Yes, If we keep maximum as per sample example, it takes too much time.

2. To configure Polling mode instead of Interrupt, have you made any changes in your EthApp.c file?

Feedback : we are scheduling Ethif, Eth and EthSM mainfunctions every 10 ms

3. You mentioned that CCS setup and Out of box examples work, does your configured example configuration work with CCS setup (I tried but ran into build time errors)?

Feedback : actually we tried to load the demo with CCS initially before we start , so then we were able to see Eth and Ethrcv Initialization succesfull

Hi Pradeep R,

Please find attached the Eth_App demo with the following configurations:

Ethernet Port-1 RGMII configured
Polling mode enabled instead of interrupt mode
Demo tests 1000 packet Tx from MCU to external world (verified using Wireshark) and expects 1000 Packets to be sent from external world (Canoe/ Colasoft/ PackEth etc) to the MCU.

The zip contains the EthApp file and the Eth_cfg files. The other modules are unmodified and can be used as is from the out-of-box SDK from the path: mcal_config/plugins.
