Stellaris LM4F120 Launch pad

I am using IAR Embedded workbench along with Stellaris LM4F120 launch pad. I checked " Use flash loader(s) " under download tab . Whenever I try to "Download and Debug " it throws me error messages saying
Fatal error: **ERROR**: Unable to open device 0x00000002   Session aborted!
 Failed to load flash loader: C:\Program Files (x86)\IAR Systems\Embedded Workbench 6.5\arm\config\flashloader\ TexasInstruments\FlashLM4FxxxHxx.flash
I do not  how to proceed after this .
Any help is appreciated.
-Thanks
  • Our group uses IAR w/multiple LM3 (may they RIP) and LX4F (same).  In each case - JLink is our JTAG/SWD probe of choice.

JLink is not a forced requirement.  Suspect that your careful review of, "Project > Options > Debugger > Setup (then "tick" TI Stellaris - should you not have/enjoy JLink).

Should get you substantially, "on the air."  You should review other/"model" IAR projects - reviewing the configurations across the full spectrum w/in "Project > Options..."

  • Hello ,

I am not sure if I understand your reply . Could you give me detailed information.

    Thanks

"War & Peace" already authored - hope that somewhat reduced writing will satisfy...

Appears that you do not recognize,  "Project > Options > Debugger > Setup..."  and this is critical/required...

Unfortunately - on my Win7 System - cannot employ "snipping tool" without "killing" the "drop-down" menu.

When that "Project"  menu opens - scroll down & select "Options" (as earlier stated).   Via attention to detail - earlier post's content should fully/properly guide...

Opening screen then reveals (as below) - select your chosen device.

and then "Debugger" - this defaults to JLink - w/out one you'll select as show.

It is reasonable to expect that actions illustrated will correct the error you earlier noted...

  • I have the same problem as the original poster.  I have verified the setup as suggested in the screen shots above, but I still get the error.  Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

  • Updating the drivers seemed to solve the problem.  http://www.ti.com/tool/stellaris_icdi_drivers.

  • Pity that op did not care enough to report his/her results.

Have you properly identified you actual MCU - on initial screen?  (Projects > Options > General...)

If correct - suggest you dial JTAG/SWD speed way down - see if a 32K speed (down from 500K)  improves things:

Indeed double check your settings against earlier screen shots.  When IAR is used w/out JLink - your connection should be from PC directly into your board via USB.  StellarisWare includes many projects under IAR format.  Very helpful for you to attempt one of those first - and log all key set-up/config screens - to insure "your" project matches.  In fact - creating "your own" project - rather than adding onto one provided - is huge issue for most...here...
