**ERROR** : Unable to initialize target - 0!

Hello,

          I am using Windows 8.1, 64Bit, 8GB RAM configuration PC. I am Using customized board of TM4C123GH6PZ, and for Debugging and Programming I am using TI Tiva C Series Launchpad and CCS 6.0.1 and LM Flash Programmer Build 1613. For Programming I use either CCS or LM Flash. Every Time when I try to program I am getting this error message "**ERROR**: Unable to Initialize target - 0!". Most Important thing is I used same customized board, Launch Pad, CCS since last 3 months but didn't face such problem and now also it is working on other PC and I can program using that PC but It is not working on my PC nowdays, So my first conclusion is

1. There is no problem with the customized board and Launchpad

Let me explain you what efforts I have taken before asking for experts help

1. I uninstalled the Stellaris ICDI driver and download latest driver. but this latest driver also didn't solve my problem

2. also I completely remove LM Flash Programmer and downloaded the latest one from Ti website and install it (while installing and running any application I am taking care by selecting RUN AS AN ADMINISTRATOR), but it didn't work too. (I did this driver and LM install and uninstall several times)

3. My power LED on launchpad is OK

4 .I checked whether I there is 3.3 volt supply or not but I found it OK  and there is no voltage fluctuation also

5. I checked it restarting the PC few times but it also won't solve my problem

So I am not getting where I am going wrong ? One most important thing I want to focus is when it was working well on my PC I tried to update the driver by hitting "Update" button in LM Flash Programmer ----"Other Utilities" tab and later on it was showing unpredictable behavior some time it may work or sometime not (to resolve this problem I install latest ICDI driver), but now it is constantly showing this error.

As per my guess there is problem with ICDI driver because on the other PC i never did any changes of installation so its working fine, so I think the driver is not supporting properly so it is showing "Unable o initialize the target - 0!"

Please suggest expert solution on this.

    Hello, two more things I found in this case,
    1. If now I uninstall latest downloaded ICDI driver and try using my old one then it is not accepting the old one where as install successfully a latest ICDI driver only
    2. I tried to do the same step from where problem started (as per my guess it may be wrong as I did so much R & D on that) i.e. Update ICDI Firmware in "Other Utilities tab" in LM Flash programmer but this time it is not updating the driver where as it is showing an error "**ERROR** : Failed to connect to ICDI Device"

    Hope it may give you a clue to suggest an expert solution. Thanks

    Also I forgot to mention one thing I tried using UNLOCK Procedure also but it didn't solve the problem.

    Thanks, I gone through these posts. Also I checked the waveforms of Stellaris Launchpad on DSO (as I am doubtful about launchpad now), I am getting good waveform at TCK (clock pin) and TMS pin but at TDI and TDO I am not getting any waveform. What signals I should get at these TDI and TDO pin? Can you tell me what documents of TI I should read to understand these signals as in Lanchpad manual they have not explain in detail about these signals. I checked Power supply also but there is no fluctuation or dropping of signal. Please reply.

    Hello Girish,

    Few additional things to check on the target board when connecting it with a LaunchPad as debugger.

    1. VDDC is up at 1.2V.
    2. The crystal is oscillating.
    3. Make sure that the RST_N after making the connection is ~3.3V
    4. The GND connection is Good.

    Since TCK and TMS are working and not TDI and TDO, check if there is a pin swapping....
