TMS320F28379S: decoupling capacitor for 28379S VDDIO and VDD3VFL

Part Number: TMS320F28379S

In our datasheet, we see the recommendation that for each pin of VDDIO, it need a 0.1-μF decoupling capacitor on each pin.

"3.3-V digital I/O power pins. Place a minimum 0.1-μF decoupling capacitor on each pin. The exact value of the decoupling capacitance should be determined by your
system voltage regulation solution."

But the customer are using BGA package, and find it difficult to place decoupling capacitor for each pin, so for those pins that are very close, can these pins share the same decoupling capacitor? like pin number G4 and G5 using one shared capacitor. and if could, what is the value of the capacitor that recommend?

  • Zhang,

It is better not to share decoupling capacitors if it can be avoided. If there is no room inside the package footprint, a better solution is to place them outside of the package footprint but close to the package edge.
