TMS320F28069: How to Program the F28069 (Piccolo) Experimenter's Kit Control Card Throught the JTAG Connector?

Hello,

I am also trying to use an external debug probe with the F28069 experimenter kit.

I was reading Brett Larimore's comment:

"I would recommend populating J8 with a jumper if you use an external emulator with the docking station (Docking-Stn USB-EMU [R3]).  This will hold the on-board emulator in reset and will keep CCS from being confused about which emulator it should be trying to use."

I cannot find J8 on the same docking station. Can someone point it out to me?

Thanks

ki

  • Ki,

It's near the edge of the board, on the side opposite of the 5V input.

  • Thanks! I put the jumper there but I still have issues connecting using my XDS110 debug probe.

I was reading CC2806x-InfoSheet_Rev0.4_20Jan2014.pdf and saw the below comment under Section 2:

"This controlCARD is designed to be debugged via the on-card emulator. JTAG ports on the docking station or any other baseboard will not be able to connect to the MCU."

Based on this, I must use the integrated XDS100v1?

    Thanks

  • Ki,

It depends on the controlCARD variant that you have. There is an ISO variant where the JTAG signals are only routed to an isolated, on-board XDS100 via a USB-mini connector. There is a non-ISO variant where the JTAG signals are routed through to the docking station.

You will most likely have the ISO variant if you see a USB-mini connector on the controlCARD.

  • Ah, that is it. I have the ISO version. Thanks for clearing that up!
